Overview
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing and maintaining an accurate general ledger, preparing financial statements, completing financial analysis, and communicating with branch offices for assigned entities. Leads and training other staff accountants.
This position is in office the first 60 days (6688 N. Central Expressway, Dallas, TX 75206). Once fully trained will have the option for a hybrid/remote schedule.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial statements for assigned entities, and review staff accountant financials, within the communicated deadlines.
- Prepare journal entries appropriately, including documentation and approvals.
- Analyze monthly financial statements, including cost per visit, cost per patient day, and variance against prior year and budget, month to date and year to date; provide concise explanations to support findings.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations per company procedures and provide detailed reconciliations in a timely manner. Identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Direct monthly calls with assigned entities.
- Serve as a mentor to regional staff accountants.
- Prepare complex functional journals within the communicated deadlines, including, but not limited to, depreciation, insurance, amortization of prepaid expenses, home office and administrative allocations, and revenue recognition. Provide complete and accurate support to accounting management for review and approval.
- Prepare and coordinate intermediate to advanced level consolidated reconciliations as assigned within the established deadlines, and work with the necessary departments to identify issues and come to a resolution.
- Participate in the annual budgeting process.
- Analyze and input annual budget data for assigned entities, including staff review and existing expense trends. Data should be reviewed to ensure that all costs appropriately reflect changes in revenue drivers.
- Complete all other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
• Required to have Bachelor's Degree in business or related field. Preferred to have Bachelor's Degree in accounting.
• Required minimum three years of experience in an accounting department.
• Required ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet critical deadlines.
• Required advanced experience using Microsoft Excel, including modeling, use of advanced formulas, pivot tables, and other advanced features.
• Oral communication, written communication, fluency in English, active listening.
• Demonstrated intermediate technology skills. Especially MS office, including word, powerpoint and excel.
• Other than for designated full-time remote positions, in-office attendance is essential in order to achieve Enhabit objectives, including but not limited to, effective supervision, teamwork, task completion, and other position objectives.
